» Quick Catch-up

Hi All!

I'm posting this news item as a quick catch-up to bring everyone up to speed with the game, and where we left off. Hopefully this will allow everyone to know where they are at and leave everyone free to jump straight back in when we start playing again.

So....

"Last Time, on Stargate SG4!"

Ok, so we were under attack at the Stargate, which had been fitted with booby-trap devices by our attackers, of whom we know very little. Since we had gone over our allotted mission-time, the SGC dialled the stargate. Hearing we were under fire, they immediately sent through SG-7 to assist us. Before we could warn SG-7 that the stargate had been booby-trapped on the other side, they started coming through. The devices attached to the gate exploded and at least two members of SG-7 were killed in the blast, a third Lieutenant Tim Phillips (played by me) was badly injured.

The situation getting worse, Colonel Chase ordered a retreat from the Stargate, back to the crashed Ancient Vessel (which Delauro's team had earlier located). Colonel Todd (played by Greg, who also play's Colonel Chase) is the leader of SG-7.

At that point, we split up. The majority of you are with me. Caden O'Brien went ahead with a combined force of SG-4 and SG-7 to clear the way to the Ancient Starship. Colonel Todd, Captain Delauro and Colonel Chase had fallen back in order to delay the persuit by the hostiles that were attacking us.

So, to clarify, Colonel Todd, Captain Delauro and Colonel Chase are together, attempting to delay our enemies from tracking us.

Zan Magellan, Corporal James Conor, Sergeant John Pyro, Petty Officer Richard Poteat, Lieutenant Alexander Boone and Lieutenant Dominic 'Enzo' Caruso are ALL with me. The reason being, severely injured Tim Phillips and less severely injured Major Reza Dallin are also with us, and have needed help along the day and a half's journey to the Ancient Ship.

Now, before arriving at the ancient ship, Colonel Chase, over radio, formally put Caden in command of the combined team of SG-4 and SG-7. When we eventually arrived at the ancient ship, we were met by a camp of several thousand of the inhabitants, who had set up various camps around the ancient ship. After some discussion, it turns out that the aliens who attacked us are known to this planet's inhabitants. They haven't attacked for a very long time and are known to the inhabitants as "The Unseen" (probably due to the fact that they have some kind of personal cloaking technology that shields them from sight).

It also transpires that the villages on this planet were protected by totum's place around the circumference of their village, that the Unseen could not pass (some kind of Ancient defence technology). However, this time it seems the unseen found some way around that, as the totum's didn't stop them this time and they have massacred the villages, forcing the people to flee to the ancient ship.

The leader of this group told Caden that, according to the legends, The Unseen cannot enter the ancient ship either (which they call "The Cradle of the People"). Running out of options, Caden is hoping that that information is still accurate and has ordered all of the people to evacuate the field in which they have set up camp and get into the ancient starship as quickly as possible. The ancient starship has various hatches and cargo bay doors that react to the biology of humans and this planet's inhabitants, similarly Caden is hoping it will NOT react to the DNA of "The Unseen".

All SG-4 personnel have been ordered to assist with the evacuation of the people into the ship, except for Richard Poteat, who has been ordered to speak with the inhabitants healers and see if there is anything they can do to help heal Major Dalling and Lieutenant Tim Phillips.

Colonel Chase's team is still about a day's travel behind us.

That's pretty much it for the moment. It has been established that the valley we are in is large, and that the Ancient Starship is equally large (about the same design and size of the 'Destiny' in Stargate Universe) so it should be more than adequate to hold the several thousand inhabitants and our people as well. In the last post, Caden O'Brien had reported this information to Colonel Chase and was overseeing the evacuation. That is what the majority of SG-4 are doing also, helping get the people into the ship (and perhaps entering it themselves, making sure it's secure). The next step was for Caden to lead some of you guys onto the ship and begin exploring the small area where we'll be setting up camp.

Everyone clear?

Hopefully this clarifies a lot for most people.

Should we or should we not continue our last mission?

I for one would like to play with everyone again, playing in this rp has been one of the best I can remember and that is saying something. I like each and every member of SG-4. Of course should we decide to play again the question I just raised will come up, and though the decision is ultimately up to the Colonel and the Major, I just want an opportunity to say my piece.

Pros and cons of starting again:
Pros:
- It would be easier on any prospective new members joining us.
- It would be a chance to get us rolling without the hang-ups of the past.
- We can start a new story without being caught up in the details of the last one.
- We won\'t need to explain why whatever members never came back through the gate with our characters.

Cons:
- We might lose the progress that we have made. Though this can be fixed by a write in, I think it would have to be a good one.
- The problems might very well recur if not solved.

Thank you for taking the time to read my in put. I\'m sure our leader will make the right choice, and I hope this little piece makes it easier.

» Playing Catch Up

I\'m playing a bit of unintended catch up since I was gone for the labor day weekend then had power issues after my return last week. So give me a bit to figure out where things stand with my story for Reza.

Hello Team,

All I can say is wow. In two weeks we completely turned the simm around. We\'ve put out 75 amazing posts in just 14 days. I couldn\'t be more proud to be on a simm. And what about today? We had a sim wide best today with a total of 9 mission posts and one personal log for a total of 10 posts in 1 day. That\'s good stuff there and todays have been some of the best that we\'ve put out from an awesome joint post through O\'Briens 3 page monster and up to Zan\'s utter defiance of what the Colonel told him to do I thihnk we\'re doing some good things and I look forward to seeing what we come up with next.
